Stravaigin

Gibson St, Glasgow

visited 10/3/10

I had quick set lunch here last week and should have written it up earlier but it's a place I'd like to have proper dinner at so judging it on the set lunch seems a bit partial. However in the interest of upping my Glasgow coverage, dear readers, here is my review.

This a a popular place in the West End with a formal resto downstairs and a more bistro-like arrangement above. It has a good feel--relaxed, informal room and good service. I am ashamed to say I can't remember the starter--it was some kind of vauguely Thai thing, and a bit too salty. But then I had a great piece of liver with PROPERLY CRISPY POLENTA (take note, much more expensive Vintner's Rooms--see below) and young spinach which preserved its leafiness. With a glass of perfectly nice house red (a rioja) it was a great lunch. Must try to return when I can dwell on the food a bit more.
